Frequently Asked Questions
Are these real Maine Coons?
Yes, absolutely! All our cats are CFA and TICA registered, and if you purchase a Silver Mittens cat, yours will be too.
Do Silver Mittens cats come with show and breeding rights?
We can mark for show at no extra charge, just let us know when you place your deposit. By default our kittens do not come with breeding rights, but we're happy to work something out for the right folks.
Why should I buy a pedigree Maine Coon?
Getting a Maine Coon registered through CFA, TICA or other reputable organizations is the only way to be sure what you're getting is a purebred Maine Coon. This is important, as crossbreeding with other cats can introduce health issues not found in Maine Coon genetics.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, in order to reserve your kitten, you will need to contact us and request to place a deposit. Deposits are $200 and non-refundable, except in extraordinary circumstances.
Do kittens have all their shots when we pick them up?
That depends on when they're picked up. In most cases they will have one last set of vaccinations. We will discuss that before you receive your new furry friend.
When should my kitten be fixed?
You can spay or neuter your kitten anytime between picking them up and around 7 months.
Are Silver Mittens cats microchipped?
Yes, we microchip all kittens before they go to their forever home. Please let us know early if you want your cat unchipped.
How do I know my kitten will be healthy?
We run a genetic test on all Sires and Queens, and never breed if a potential genetic issue is found. We have all of our kittens cleared by a vet as healthy before listing for sale.
Do you have a health guarantee?
Yes, we will make it right with a refund or replacement kitten if your Silver Mittens cat has any genetic health issues identified by a licensed veterinarian in the first year.
